Twilight (2008 film): Twilight is a 2008 American romantic vampire film based on Stephenie Meyer’s popular novel of the same name. The project was in development for approximately three years at Paramount Pictures,during which time a screen adaptation that differed significantly from the novel was written. Melissa Rosenberg wrote a new adaptation of the novel shortly before the 2007?2008 Writers Guild of America strike and sought to be faithful to the novel’s storyline. Principal photography took 44 days,and completed on May 2,2008; the film was primarily shot in Oregon. Twilight was theatrically released on November 21,2008,grossing over US2 million worldwide. It was released on DVD March 21,2009,and became the most purchased DVD of the year. The soundtrack was released on November 4,2008. Following the film’s success,New Moon and Eclipse,the next two novels in the series,were produced as films the following year.

NOH8 Campaign: The NOH8 Campaign is a silent protest photo project against California Proposition 8. The campaign features photographs portraying people in front of a white backdrop wearing white t-shirts,their mouths taped shut and “NOH8” painted on their cheek. The phrase refers to “H8”,short for “Proposition H8”,a nickname used by critics of Proposition 8. The campaign was created on February 1,2009,by photographer Adam Bouska and Jeff Parshley. The photos are featured on the campaign’s website,Facebook,Flickr,
Twitter,MySpace,as well as a virtual world campaign in Second Life. By the end of 2010 more than 13,000 faces were included in the campaign after 22 open shoots that were held in 17 different US cities. Some photographers and student groups have even set up their own photoshoots. The campaign photos have circulated on the internet and are appearing on many supporter’s social networking profiles. Both LGBT and non LGBT people have participated in the photoshoots.
